KC Royals Scoreboards, Kansas City, Missouri

Universal Technologies had the pleasure of working with Daktronics under the contract with Progress Electric to install the fiber optic terminations and testing of the infrastructure cabling for the new state-of-the-art scoreboard at Kauffman Stadium. This Project was under a strict timeline and involved a technical team of dedicated technicians. Over (900) fiber optic connections were needed to power and control the massive monitor and several other displays throughout Kauffman Stadium. UT and the Daktronics design team installed fiber optic LIU and equipment racks for a user friendly and reliable installation. Interconnection of video, audio equipment, and documentation of the cable infrastructure by UT and the design team made this install a success. Daktronics and team of contractors installed the world’s largest high definition (HD) video display at Kauffman Stadium. The display, an impressive 105-feet tall and 85-feet wide, has the capability of showing both live and recorded video, and can display statistical information, graphics, animations and various other content. The content shown on the display comes from a combination of several Daktronics stat software programs, but they all receive data from DakStats Baseball. During the game, the DakStats operator enters each play as it happens into DakStats Baseball, and the software then directs the data to the display controllers and character generators.

UT met all cost, schedules, and quality objectives of the project. Corrective actions were necessary due to weather. Some overtime was required to keep the completion date and meet all schedules.
